Microsoft Dataverse is a relational database that you can use as a data source for your Power Apps. It really is much more than just a database, but let’s start there. Dataverse grew from Microsoft’s CRM product, it became casually known as xRM, then CDS (Common Data Service) and now it is named Microsoft Dataverse.
Model-driven apps have been part of Microsoft for more than a decade. These apps evolved from Dynamics CRM and are what the Power Platform was first built on. The idea of a model-driven app is that you know you have data, it’s relational data, and you need an effective way to surface that to your users. Model-driven apps come with loads of features and automation out of the box, and they come with a quick and easy way to compose an app from the components you’ve made.
Canvas apps are Power Apps that allow you to build pixel-perfect apps connected to hundreds of potential data sources.
